Before Asking For
Directions:
Starting to
conversation kindly is very good way. So, when we start talking, we
can use the following forms:
Examples:

Is there a … around here? ( apakah ada..... Sekitar sini?)
Could you tell me how to get to …? (dapatkah kamu menceritaiku bagaimana sampai
ke.....)
How do I find …? (bagaimana saya menemukan.......?)
Pardon me, I’m lost. how do I get to …? (mohon maaf, saya tersesat,
bagaimana saya sampai ke....?)
Which is the best way to …? (yg mana jalan yg terbaik ke..... ?)
Could you direct me to …? (dapatkah kamu mengarahkanku ke......?)
Which way do I go to get to …? (jalan mana yg saya lalui untuk sampai
ke.....?)
What’s the best way to …? (mana jalan yg terbaik menuju ke...... ?)
Excuse me, do you know where the … is? (permisi apakah kamu yahu
dimana.....?)
Is this the right way for …? ( apakah ini jalan yg benar menuju ke.... ?)
GIVING DIRECTION
(memberikan arahan)
Go straight ahead.
(lurus/maju terus)
Turn around. ( putar balik)
Turn left/right. (belok kiri/kanan)
Go pass /Go along … ( lalui sepanjang)
Crossroad ( perempatan)
Take the first/second road on the left/right. (ambil jalan ke satu/dua pda
kiri/kanan jalan)
It’s on the left/right. (itu dikiri/kanan jalan)
The easiest way is to … ( jalan termudah adalah.....)
The best way is to … (jalan terbaik adalah...)
It’s on the corner (itu di ujung)
It’s in the middle of the block. (itu ditengah blok)
etc
If we don’t know the answer, we
can say;
I am sorry.
I don’t know.
I am stranger here myself.

Dialogue 1
A: Excuse me sir.
Is there a bank around here?
B: Sorry, I don't know.
Dialogue 2
A: Excuse me! Could you tell me where the nearest bank is, please?
B: Walk two blocks and turn left at the bookstore.
The bank will be across the street, next to the post
office.
A: Is it far from here?
B: No, it’s just a ten-minute walk.
