EXPRESSING INTENTION

 An intention is an idea that you plan (or intend) to carry out.  A plan is arrangement for doing something considered in advance.  If we want to do something,  it means we have an aim,  a plan,  an intention,  or a reason.  

There are some ways to ask intention or plan. 

1. What is your plan?

2. What are you going to do? 

3. What will you do? 

4. What are you planning to do? 

5. What do you want to do? 

6. What would you rather do? 


The following are main expressions of stating intention. 

1. I will ....... 

2. I'm going to .... 

3. I would like to.... 

4. I would rather.... than.... 

5. I plan to.... 

6. I want to.... 

7. I hope to..... 

Examples:

a.  I will improve my English

b.  I am going to buy a novel at bookstore. 

c.  I would like to swim in the new swimming pool. 


Read the following dialogue! 

Teddy : Do you have a plan tonight? 

Alan   : Yes.  I am going to watch Siska's performance. 

Teddy  : what are you going to do there? 

Alan    : I am going to call her name and support her. 

Teddy : well,  I think I am going to watch Siska's performance,  too. 

Alan   : That's great.  We can go there together.
