 A text which describes a place, a thing, or a person is called a descriptive text. A descriptive text is more specific because it takes one particular subject, and then tries to depict that clearly to the readers. in other words, a descriptive text focuses on one subject. in this chapter, we are going to discuss more about descriptive text about place. 1. Social Function The social function of descriptive text about place is to promote or to introduce a place, and to inform about the place. 2 . Generic Structure a . Identification It identifies the place to be described. b. Description  It describes the characteristic or parts of the place or building described. Example: 3. Language Features a. use specific participant/subject b. use a lot of adjectives (e.g. small) and adverbs (e.g. easily, directly). c. use simple present tense d. use descriptive words. e. sometimes use degree of comparison (e.g. smaller, larger).

 An intention is an idea that you plan (or intend) to carry out.  A plan is arrangement for doing something considered in advance.  If we want to do something,  it means we have an aim,  a plan,  an intention,  or a reason.   There are some ways to ask intention or plan.  1. What is your plan? 2. What are you going to do?  3. What will you do?  4. What are you planning to do?  5. What do you want to do?  6. What would you rather do?  The following are main expressions of stating intention.  1. I will .......  2. I'm going to ....  3. I would like to....  4. I would rather.... than....  5. I plan to....  6. I want to....  7.   The Expression of Compliment  People usually add compliments when they congratulate someone.  A compliment is when you say something nice about someone.  A compliment is also defined as an expression of prise or admiration.  People like to hear comments about their good behavior,  how hard they are working,  or their appearance.  When we give compliments  we should always be positive and always mean what we say.  Giving compliments is telling something nice to or about someone.  To complicomp means to tell someone that you like the way they look or that you are pleased with something they have done.  It is a way of showing that you have noticed and appreciated something about someone or situation.  1.
